Does anyone know, please, when buriels began at St Mary & St Thomas Aquinas RC Church, Stella, Tyne & Wear. I just can't seem to find this information anywhere.

Many thanks

Have you tried contacting the Church?

I would suggest that burials began very soon after the Church was consecrated...........

Lindsey.....Depend,s when you are looking as RC Churches didnt tend to keep Burial records until late 1800s early 1900s......
The above Church Records are deposited at Ncle Archives Blanford Street but dont think burial ones are there....

I have lots of BMs for there but no Burials

Hi Reggie

Thanks for your reply. I did find this information at one time on their site but it seems to have changed now and I have forgotten the date. I will perhaps contact them.

Thanks again

Hi Eringobragh

The burial I am looking for is Michael March who died 13th March, 1843 but according to Tyne & Wear archives, there is a gap in the records from 1790 to 1856. I have found his father in the church yard who died in 1847 and his brothers but it seems strange that his name wasn't mentioned on the stone. I am just wondering if burials hadn't started in 1843 because his mother wasn't mentioned either and she would have died before Michael. So I am wondering if they could have been buried elsewhere.

Many thanks for your help

Lindsey...Amendment to my post

Stella St Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church records 1775-1838 are deposited at Durham County Record Office, County Hall, Durham, DH1 5UL

Not Ncle as I stated.
