Find Ancestors

Found more information regarding my grandmother Bridget Smyth (born 6th Dec 1900) married Owen Rennick, had three daughters Maureen, Bridget , and Nan. My mothers name was Margaret Smyth born 1920. Bridget also had sisters Kate, Annie, Maggie and Mary
and brother Patrick no information on Patrick. Their fathers name was Hugh Smyth
their mothers name was Bridget, maiden name Reilly,from Cootehills Co.Cavan.
My grandmother died August 22nd 1984,Interred in Bunnoe Graveyard Lisboduff,Cooteshill Co.Cavan.
Will be grateful for any information regarding family.

Anne... Can you confirm if this is your family 1911 Census...I cannot find a Hugh and ? Bridget on either 1901/1911....This is the only family that has the names you stated other than the mammy ....
The surname is transcribed as Smyth (1901)

Owen's parents were James Rennick and BRID.REILLY (married 1879 Cootehill)

Hi Mark thank you for the information that you have forward to me ,My grandmother was the daughter of Owen and Bridget Smith/Smyth born in Corrachen. The family you have mentioned are not the same family as the childrens names are different. I have already met my mums third cousin and also her first cousin who is now 91years old. She is my great grans sisters, daughter. There are so many named Bridget Smyth or Smith,I thank you so much for replying to my request. I am going to send for their marriage certificate to Roscommon office.

You have posted the same Census as I did but from what I understand...its not the right family...

Yeah I posted the 1901 as you had the 1911.....but I didnt open my eyes enough to to see that Owen and Bridget are the parents :-(

Mind you Erin, I looked at the censuses for every Owen with the right family and zilch, nada, nowt :-S


That birth for Bridget that I posted is the only one I can see that matches her birth being Dec 1900, registered in the next quarter Jan 1901

I have found all the other births that are on the censuses that we posted

Gins..this is how I read it....(same as you at first)..then....

Bridget Smyth was b.1900 she then married Owen Rennnick they had Maureen Bridget Nan.
Anne has her mother Margaret b1920 down as Margaret Smyth...

1. Anne has mistakenly put Smyth instead of Rennick
2. Margaret was younger sister by 20yrs to Bridget Smyth who married Owen Rennick.

She states Brids parents are "Hugh Smyth and Bridget"...with children Patrick Kate Roie Brid Margy Mary...
Like you I could find no others on the Census to cover the same names in the family..No Hugh and Brid.as parents.

Anne's latest post gives her g.mothers name as Brid Smyth b 1900 daughter of OWEN Smythe and Bridget...

Am totally bamboozeled.

Me too......Ive done too much of this stuff today, along with marking :-S
