Hi Treena

Where did you find the word in the first place?

Have looked this up on www.britishsurnames.co.uk and they suggest various other spellings, such as Fitall, Vitale, Vitaleo which could indicate Italian background ?

I found Fattles in my family tree, our Surname is Faultless and when you get back to the 1400's it changes to Fattles... So it makes sense that it could be a simple name change . Just wondered what it meant (maybe an old profession) or as someone suggested in earlier posts "It could have NO Meaning at all"
