Dear AnnCardiff,

Many thanks for your help also.I hadn't seen that old 1705 record for Catherine Rea.It may or may not be the same family-the name Catherine Rea,and Catherine, seems to be perpetuated throughout the family through the years, even here in Australia. There are still descendants of Henry's in my generation called Catherine,so you never know.

Thank you also for sending me 6 of Catherine's and Samuel's children's birth and baptism details,I didn't have them all,so that is a big help.

Margot.

Dear patchem,

I obtained Catherine Rea's surname from my 2x Great Grandfather Henry Barlow's death certificate.Henry was the 5th of Samuel and Catherine's 12 children and only one of two of them to emigrate to Australia.Henry named his daughter Catherine Rea Barlow, and the name Rea also lives on in other family members' names.

Fortunately for me,Australian death certificates do have both parents' names of the deceased on them, but as you quite rightly say, sometimes those details are incorrect,or unknown, which makes the search a bit harder.

Many thanks for your help.

Margot.

Death certificate will not have parents' details on it, sorry.
(And, as a point of interest, as informants often get the dead person's details incorrect, how are they expected to know the correct parents?)
Where did you get her surname from (child's birth certificate?)?
Thanks

MargarettawasMargot Report 5 Aug 2012 15:01

I'm trying to find the birth, parents and siblings of my 3xGreat Grandmother,Catherine Rea.She married Samuel Barlow in C1826 or 1827,in England, possibly in Shropshire or Staffordshire. She died in the 3rd quarter of 1844(Vol.18, Page 98),in Newport South,Shropshire.I found her in the 1841 Census, living in Church Aston, Shropshire, with her husband and children.I haven't been able to find her birth-all I know, from the 1841 Census, is that she was not born in Shropshire, and that she was born around 1808.

Can anyone tell me, if I get a copy of her death certificate,is it likely to have her parent's details on it?(I'm in Australia.)

I have searched the trees of GR members, but my Catherine is not related to the descendants of the Rea families on here,so it's a bit of a mystery.

Can anyone help, please?

Many thanks, Margot.
