Oh Dea sorry I forgot- Joseph is the only one of their children I found on that site. Quite surprised. Traced his wife and family down to present day including the mystery death of his wife at sea. Got a lovely photo of him from his family in AUS but sadly none of my direct gf his bros William. However so surpised how much he and his daughter Hannah look like my grandfather. found the other bap rcords on IGI before it change to the new site. :-( :-(

So sad this one is a dead end

The Abigail stuff is interesting my problem with that is just Hubby's job. School master. Bit too upper class for my family.

I checked the certs for the children some say father a weaver & others farmer.
Wonder if they were farming in Ireland and crossed to Manchester to find works in the mills

Reggie - give me a break....Checked the Lancashire parish record and originally IGI but can't get my old head round the new format.

Thks for trying :-D

Witness Abigail Robinson?
This is the only Abigail Robinson that I could find in the area and wonder if her husband is relevant:

The 1841 census shows head Francis Robinson, Abigail and James were all born outside census county. Francis Robinson was a School Master.

The cert of the second marriage will tell you Jane's father's name (if she knew him)

Where did you learn Jane's maiden name?

Where have you looked when trying to find the Robinson/Thompson marriage?

Can anybody find a marriage for an Arthur Robinson & Jane Thompson

I am presuming it to be Lancashire but could be Ireland.

Arthur died 2 Oct 1840 B/R Ashley Street, St George, Manchester age 53 so presumed birth 1787

Jane appears on 1841 Census as a widow - mother Jane as head, age 41, from Ireland. Children Rebecca 20, Mary 10, William 9, Joseph 5, Jane 2 and Ann baby. Husband Arthur presumed dead
Address: Fox Street Manchester. Occupation of mother and all children listed as 'weaver'

Jane goes on the marry Charles Bradbury - all info that follows has been checked.

So frustrating that I can't find out anything further about my fathers line - have been trying for years. Maybe fresh eyes could give it a go :-) :-)
