Thomas Crippen came to Plymouth Colony, America in about 1665. His wife was Francis Bray. I have his descendents since he arrived in this country but do not have any information on his forefathers in England. By any chance has anyone traced the Crippen line back that far and have this Thomas listed in the line? |

Hello Robert and welcome to the boards. Have you used the Search/"search all trees" facility (top right) to see if anyone else has matches? |

I want to thank you all for your replies. They are quite helpful. I do have one question. In one of the replies it said that Thomas's father was Bradley and in another it said Moses. Do we know which is correct? |

If you google his name there's loads of info but I don't think any of it gives his exact birth or parents' names. I liked this little bit of info: |

Thank you Margee. I did check Google but it has most of the information that we have after they arrived in the Plymouth Colony. I would like to find something on the family in England. We also suspect that a Crippen came to the Virginia Colony and wonder if they are related. |

well the Bradley Crippen I posted was earlier - wonder if they were related to Crippen the notorious murderer? [he was born in Michigan] |

The Crippens gradually moved westward moving from Massachusetts to Connecticut and then to New York. One of the line had a number of children and some of them migrated to Michigan and further west. Dr. Crippen probably came from the Michigan stock. One of the Crippens from Illinois became a hero in our Civil War at the Battle of Gettysburg. |

I've been to Gettysburg - amazing place - passed a place called Cardiff on the way and just had to call in- they had a Rehoboth chapel with the service in Welsh on a board outside - founded by slate miners from Wales - that was in 1976 - years later my husband joined Pendyrus Male Choir [arguably the top Welsh Male Choir] and they toured USA many times and actually went to Cardiff and sang in Rehoboth Chapel - they named a street in Cardiff - Pendyrus Street - and he always stayed with the Boyds on their Peach farm - Peach Bottom Farm - loved it there |

can't recall that I saw it Robert - it was all a bit overwhelming to be honest - the way the place was laid out it seemed to bring it all to life - how wonderful to have such ancestors in your tree |
