What you need is one of the children's birth certificates to get mother's maiden name. From which child do you descend?

The marriage I have is Elizabeth Upton & Charles Painter 28 June 1838 Liverpool
Elizabeth was born 1815 Whatton Nottinghamshire daughter of Thomas Upton.

I think it has to be the same family although her birthplace is transcribed Nottinghamshire on the 61 census the original is very difficult to read and could very well be Northamptonshire. The initials used for the children match the actual names on the other censuses.

there was a Charles Panther & Elizabeth Collins married 1840 in Burton-?Latimer,? Northampton,? so I think that's the one on the 1841 census and maybe the rest not sure about 1861.

I'm not convinced its the right family. 1861 census has Nottinghamshire which would be right , they married 1838 in Liverpool.
