I'm trying to decipher the occupations of my relatives on the 1871 census
they lived at: Main Street, Crosshills, Glusburn, Yorkshire, England
Father: James Smith (45) Designer b.Scotland
Wife: Jane Smith (36) Wife b. Yorkshire, Crosshills
Son: Andrew Smith (17) Weftman b. Scotland
Son: William Smith (15) Justice ???? b.Scotland
Daughter: Catherine Smith (13) House Assistant b.Scotland
Son: James Smith (10) lloffer??? b. Keighley, Yorkshire
Daughter: Isabella Smith (8) Scholar b. Keighley, Yorkshire
Son: John Smith (5) Scholar b. Keighley, Yorkshire

Can anyone help decipher William and Jame's Occupations??

William is a Twister and (looks like) Carcutter?

James is a Doffer

A doffer unloads full bobbins from a spinning machine.

A twister works in the weaving shed and joins the ends of a fresh beam of threads onto the warp already on the loom. A sitting-down job, sometimes done by people who were crippled.
