have you checked on the CWGC to see if he was a WW1 casualty?

second thoughts - he would have been too young for WW1

Does anyone know what happened to William MacFarlane?
Willam was born 19 Oct 1903 Anderston, Glasgow, Scotland. Parent's are Daniel MacFarlane & Margaret maiden name Sherriff, married name is Heald. Daniel & Margaret never married.
Margaret died in 1909 and William was placed in a home in Glasgow, later he was fostered out to Crofters in Uist. William ran away from there and joined the army.
This is all the information i have for William ( my great grand Uncle).
