Choccielover2006 Report 29 Jul 2012 11:32

Hi, I am trying to find out details of James' parents. I believe his father may have also been called James (per marriage licence). James married in Great Sampford in 1754, lived and died in Manuden. I would love to find out details of his parents, this is my 'brickwall'. Any help would be gratefully received.

To Mike

He married Elizabeth Choat, and his dob was given me by a cousin. Think details were from marriage licence.

To Mike

It is John on the parish register, but I believe it says James on the Licence dated 31 Dec 1753.

Hi

Where have the details come from please? If its from the IGI then was it an extracted record or one that has been submitted by someone?

(have just viewed the 1754 Marriage, says John, but would say date was Jan 5)

Thanks everyone, the name James, came I believe from a copy of the licence and not the register. In every other document he appears as James and it must be the same person as he is married to Elizabeth and they name one of their sons Choat.

Hi
I have had a look at the other church records surrounding Great Yeldham but have found no Pipers, it could mean they were all baptised in a group (I have found up to six children of the same family being done together) or another big maybe is that GY is only six miles from the Suffolk boarder so he may have been brought up in GY and beleived he was born there but may have been born in Suffolk nearest church in Sudbury.
Good luck

Thank you, Jolee

I have been starting to wonder about Suffolk myself, if only they were as organised as Essex and had their records online! ;-)
