Find Ancestors

Hi, I am trying to find the whereabouts of James (Jim) Bartholomew between 1901 and 1913. He was in Sheffield in the 1901 census (a porter) but I can't find him on the 1911 census. Sometime in the interim he moved down to Essex, where he married my great grandmother (Harlow) by which time he was a mechanic. If anyone could offer any suggestions I would be grateful.

Entry in the Parish Register lists him a 'Bachelor'. I am puzzled as to why he would have travelled such a long distance all the way from Sheffield down to Essex. It is not as if he had a trade that made him move to follow work and as far as I know all his siblings stayed in the Sheffield area.

Have seen this one myself but place of birth doesn't quite tie up and the parish register for his marriage in Essex in 1913 has him as a 'Bachelor' which is why I discounted it. Assuming of course that he was being honest!

Since you know his father's name from the MC would it be worth buying the Bartholomew/Ackroyd 1906 marriage cert?

Have you found all/any of his siblings in 1911? If not, he might be living with one of them.

just looking to see where Freeton is, not finding it, looking at the 1911 original, I wonder if it actually says Treeton
