Have you noticed the Genes box on Friends Reunited? It's a great place to share and store your memories, and even post your family history discoveries! If you have any old photos, even ones you've posted on our Facebook page , you can upload them straight from your computer to the box>

and it shows a photo from 1851 of a Victorian lady, with the surname Mahill

I don't think I like the idea of photos and pictures being taken from this site, and posted on FR's site ............ and people told to take what they what :-|

... but it does say

"Store your personal memories securely

Everything you upload will be stored safely and securely in your Keepsafe. Use it like your online memory bank - anything you add is automatically private until you choose to share it"

HAH!

Have you been over there recently????

your own photos that you upload on FR may well be stored safely in your memory box ............... although I've loads of photos from people's memory boxes showing on my Home Page, and they all pertain to the town, school, university etc that I have listed on FR. BUT I do not know ANY of the people who apparently have these photos in their Memory Boxes.

In this case though ................ you, MC, are not loading your photos into your Memory Box on FR.

FR is lifting the photos from GR, and posting them in the open ......... and you MC, or me, have no control of who takes the photo and copies into their Memory Box.

Well, that's why I don't use any of GR or FR facilities!

Only have a rubbish tree on here that I never update.

Yes, Dea

"over there" is where they have published the information.

BUT Friends Reunited is being allowed to take the photos from on here, and post them on the FR site

so it is photos you may have posted on GR, either as your avatar or in the photos and video section that are being "lifted" by FR

They have not told GR members on HERE that this is happening!
