Immigration found by Chris Ho is the correct woman.
Her son Alfred William Foster married in NZ1930.
In later life, widowed Susannah Elizabeth Hart and her son lived at the same address in Waikato.
Edit:
1928 NZ electoral roll find Charles Henry Hart, his wife Susannah E Hart and both Alfred and Albert Foster in the same household

Thanks for the above re Alfred Foster but this is not the correct Albert Foster. The place of birth and occupation are wrong. There are several Alfred Fosters in the London area at this given time, but my Alfred was born in Bethnal Green and was a wood carver. I too had followed this one up but definitely the wrong Alfred. Thanks anyway

I am so grateful for all your help. i will now try to see if there are any living New Zealand relatives. Now that i have the date of Susannah's (Susan's) marriage to Charles Hart it will be easier, hopefully, to find relatives. I know that they had 2 boys, Jack and Allen and I have found both of them on the New Zealand death records. Now I need to try and find any children they may have had and so on. My dad, who is nearly 95, is going to be so happy that I have got this far as contact was lost when my Mum died many years ago.
Thanks again,
Diane

Diane and Reggie,
I did a google search and came upon a conversation to rootsweb.
Someone was looking for info on Charles Henry Hart in NZ.
Part of the conversation seemed to suggest that Susannah Elizabeth had been married before and possibly called Tilbey.
I found the marriage of:
Susannah Elizabeth Tilbey to ALFRED JAMES FOSTER in West Ham 1902 (2nd qutr)
This couple cannot be found on the 1911 cenus

EDIT:
Is this his death?

I'm really struggling to follow this .....

If I'm reading this correctly, Susan Hart was your mother's aunt - in which case Susan was the sister of either Irene's mother or father, that shouldn't be too difficult to unravel. OR - is Susan the aunt of your mother's mother?

Diane

Diane Report 24 Jul 2012 22:25

OK I will do my best! I think Susan Hart was born about 1890 and her children in the late 1910's/early 1920's. I have a photo of her taken in1943 holding a grandchild, Virginia, who looks to be about 3 years old. I think she is the daughter of her son Jack. I dont believe her son Allen was married then. I know that Allen was an officer on the Shaw Savill line sailing between New Zealand and London, and I remember going to meet him at Tilbury Docks, as a child, after his ship had docked . I am almost certain that Susan was born in England and she had a sister Joan who remained in the UK. How Susan came to be in New Zealand I have no idea, neither do I know her maiden name. My mothers mother was Emma Etty Foster. born in1885, one of 9 children. Her father Was William Alfred Foster born in 1846 in Bethnal Green, one of 6 boys. He was married to Jane and her Grandfather was Stephen Foster born in 1815 and married to Jane. In the 1940's Susan Hart lived in Wellington NZ as I have several letters from her that were sent to my mother during WWII.
I hope this info is of use, I am really struggling to get any leads to the NZ side of the family and hope you can help.

Hello Diane, is there relevant info on your other thread that we need to refer to?

You need to give us some dates and timescales ......

Thanks to all the help given to me re my mother Irene Teale I have tracked a huge part of her fathers side of the family but I am really struggling with her relatives on her mothers side, in particular those in New Zealand. Susan Hart was her aunt who lived in Wellington, New Zealand who i believe had 2 boys, Jack (married to Peggy) and Allen. I believe that Allen married her second cousin Virginia Warren who possibly lived in Southend on Sea, Essex.
Once again, any help would be hugely appreciated
