Thanks I have no idea where Edward charman was born unfortunately (would make it easier). I will try looking at some trees but so far no luck. Who knew charman name was so popular!!! Oh well I guess I will keep looking. |

I have a Charman on the fringe of my tree, a relative by marriage , not by blood. |

His name may have changed from Rice to Charman if his mother remarried. |

As you have probably discovered, the 2 births with no middle name, die before 1901: |

Find him on 1901 and 1911 census and it should give you his birthplace and parents |

Hi I'm trying to find my grandfather born 1894/5 named Edward charman (possibly rice). He married my nan Annie emery in 1940 and died in 1961. On his marriage cert to my nan it says his father was called William charman who was a labourer. It also says he was a widower so was married before my nan. My father says he thinks he recalls a mention of a name change from rice but have nothing to go on. My father also thinks his dad had a brother called James. We also think he was in the Hampshire regiment... If this rings any bells would love to hear from you. |
