Yes there is a Bolton in Westmorland. I should have made that more clear.

So if I understand correctly, Mary who married Matthew Robinson was born Bongate and the daughter of Thomas & Jane or not the daughter of Thomas & Jane?

I am rather hoping she is the daughter of William Ellwood & Ann Simpson married 1794 St Michael's. Mary the daughter was born 1813 Bongate.

A further search shows on her marriage that the place of birth is Bongate according to familysearch, the same area as shown on the census which Gins provided, although incorrect.- jl

Hi Gigi. You may have answered your own question as it easy to presume the wrong information which I have done. Mary Ellwood married Matthew Robinson in Westmoreland which includes the ? village of Bolton.Not as I presumed from your post Bolton in Lancashire.

Whilst I have found a Mary Ellwood baptised in Bolton the year doesn't tally but could have been a late baptism. Mary Ellwood baptised Bolton 14th Oct 1818 daughter of Thomas Ellwood and Jane- jl

Im not seeing any children with the parents Matthew and Mary for the time period and place

I think its a case of sending for death certificates from 1841 to 1851 but there are several possibles :-S

The 1851 I found with a Joseph and Mary Robinson...is not correct...... I think she was a Lewthwaite before she married....back to the drawing board.
