Had a look for a marriage on freebmd and it came up with this

It means that she had been married before most likely

not posting names as it is possible that they are still living but if you search on the two surnames for her with spouse surname of Hartill then you will see that bride had same forenames

Same marriage I wold think as the original shows Wilson or Ward as the wife

When you click on the 1404 on that free bmd entry it will show you the lady is both Ward and Wilson. (Though one entry is for Harthill)

There's a birth of a Hartill child in 1958 Southport with mother's maiden name Wilson.

Am I right in thinking that the 2 surnames would be shown even if Patricia had not been married before but the surname she gave for her father was different to her own?

They are on freebmd.
