Google throws up a great deal about his life as a clergyman and his time in India - seems to have been a hellfire & brimstone vicar. google also lists details of his membership of Freemasons and details of letter etc to parliament, but nothing about where he came from other than "s/o John Ward of Newport Hampshire" - the tree is stuck until I can locate this |

I have no idea when James's father died and other than univeristy & church record I have no evidence that his father was John. Burke's book says that the father John died in 1787. Unfortunatley, the name is so common & any wills I can find for around that date so not seem to fit. The other problem is that IOW records are on the island. |

No Ann you're not and thank you for the information. Messages keep poping up whilst I'm cheking my file. I am more interested in the Ward side than the Burroughes. I also know that any of James's children born in Norfolk were born at Long Stretton as he was vicar here. |
