Hi

Sorry about this. I have realised that this 1910 marriage is not my Martha.
It seems all the family went to Canada in 1911 and instead of the census could someone look for their travel details
the family are
William Carter 1854
Jane Carter 1852
Elizabeth Ann 1882
Mary 1883
William 1886
Margaret 1889
Martha 1891
Thomas 1893
My hints on Ancestry are showing a census for 1906 in Saskatchewan Canada but I dont have the subscription to look at it.
Really sorry to waste peoples valuable time

Hello again

With regard to the above info.............Could someone see if they can find the son William(1886) going out to Canada as he is not listed with the rest of the family on their journey but is on the 1906 census with them.
Also could someone find the 1906 census for Mary (1883). She travelled with the family but doesn't appear to be with them on the census.
Any other info re the family- deaths/marriages in Canada would be much appreciated.
Also..........what date is the 1906 census taken in Canada?
Thanks in anticipation
Christine

Hello
Is it OK if I nudge this??

Im not sure if my final post has been missed or if people have looked for the info but not found it. If it is the latter then I apologise.

I now believe William(1854) (the father) travelled to Canada in August 1905 BEFORE the rest of the family and died there around 1906 and this is why his wife Jane was married when she travelled out there in May 1906 but was a widow on the 1906 census. I think......................
I wonder if William(1886)the son travelled with his father?
Any help with travel, marriage and death details would be appreciated.
Thank you
Christine

No idea if this is the right person - it's not an unusual name:

Web: Manitoba, Death Index, 1881-1941
Name: William Carter
Gender: Male
Age at Death: 50
Birth Date: abt 1853
Death Date: 9 Oct 1903
Death Place: Brandon, Manitoba, Canada

MarieCeleste

I have been speaking to someone in Canada and Manitoba was mentioned but I understood he didn't go to Canada until Aug 1905 so although the birth date is right I'm not sure if this is my man
Thanks for looking

This looks a possible outgoing:

Destination country: Canada

Date of Birth: 1854 (calculated from age)
Age: 49
Marital Status: Married

Master's name: A Macnicol
Steamship Line: Allan Line

Travelling with Wm jnr, age 16. Occupations both labourers.

Christine

Christine Report 22 Jul 2012 19:29

MarieCeleste

Brilliant. That fits in with William jnr not travelling with the rest of the family in 1906
But the death may not be right as Jane states she is married in 1906........
Thanks again

This is the two Williams arriving in Canada, name mistranscribed:

Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935
Name: Wm Carles
Gender: Male
Age: 49
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1854
Date of Arrival: 28 Mar 1903
Vessel: Bavarian
Port of Arrival: Halifax, Nova Scotia and St John, New Brunswick
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Roll: T-496

Still with William, 16 but he is now a merchant from Lancashire but William jnr is a weaver. Their onward destination was Elkhorn.

re: Jane's journey - I don't know if shipping records gave a "widowed" option?

Christine

Christine Report 22 Jul 2012 19:57

MarieCeleste

On the census before they left they are both weavers so Im pretty sure these are my men.
Have to sign off now but will be back in the morning
Thanks for all your help
