I am trying to find out what my Grandfather did during WW1. Unfortunately I don't know what regiment he was in. I think he was in the Infantry or Rifle Corps but do know that he was in Ypres. I believe he lied about his age to enlist, saying he was 2yrs older than he was. He was:
Henry Hanson Lilley b 1896
Any ideas where I start ?

Hello Hazel, unfortunately around 60% of WW1 records were destroyed during WW2.

I'm not seeing anything immediately obvious for your Henry so perhaps his records didn't survive.

Hi Dea....you've got the right one there. He was actually born 19/11/1896.

MarieCeleste...just my luck if Grandad's records were destroyed.

Thanks anyway. Hazel
