Can I suggest Langford is more likely to be Co.Longford. The name Derkin is more likely to be a corruption of Durkin or Durkan. The Durkin name is more prominent in Sligo with Durkan being prominent in Mayo. The Griffiths valuation found at askaboutireland.ie will give you a searchable database to search the many variations of name that existed around the 1850s. |

Does anyone have any info about the Derkin or Durkin family from Langford, Ireland ? Alen and Mary Durkin were in Manchester by 1840 for the birth of John. I think Mary came from Waterford. I've looked in the census records, but wondered if anyone was researching the family. |
