I have been trying to find my granduncle, Clive Spicer, in the military records as my dad has told me he was in the army in WW2 as he has his army medals and Frankly I am quite curious.

I know he went missing during his 4 mission on behalf of the S04 (this is a branch of a secret service in the army) and was found again in Egypt 1954, can anybody give me any information on why he wouldn't be in the records

Many Thanks

Imogen xx

Army records for soldiers who service ended after 1920 are still held with the MOD you will not find them online and are only accessable to the soldier or their next of kin

Edit, Are you sure he was a S04? I have no knowledge of such a unit
could he have been a Special Operations Executive (SOE) ?

You can't possibly know he isn't 'in the records' unless the proven NOK has applied for them and been told they don't exist
