Thanks for your input, Jonesey.
She must have left the Birmingham area, by 1891 she would be of an age to be married or in service somewhere, maybe back in Ecclesall, living with relatives.
Pretty impossible to search for without a Christian name!

Both parents die in Birmingham, Hannah in 1884, William in 1888. All the children remain in Birmingham except for "Liddon", the younger ones living as "Relatives" with the Lloyd family.

As you say no obvious marriage for an L Bownes within the 1881~1901 period in Warwickshire but several in Ecclesall Bierlow and Sheffield area.

PP, I had found the Lilly/Lilian and thought she was the right girl but apparently she belongs to a different family.
Thanks Maddie, I will check that possibility,

If I could find the child on another census or record it would help :-S

Thank you PP.
As I said, no birth, marriage or death record for anyone called Liddon :-(
I'm trying to imagine someone with a Yorkshire accent saying a girl's name which might sound like Liddon to the census man, but I can't come up with anything!

Hello all
I have the following family in 1881 (Birmingham St. George):
William Bownes aged 41
Hannah Bownes aged 37
William A. Bownes aged 12
Charles Bownes aged 10
LIDDON BOWNES (daughter) aged 9 <<<<
Florance Bownes aged 6
Albert Bownes aged 4

All the family except the youngest child born in Sheffield.

By 1891 both parents have died; William A. has married; Charles, Florence and Albert are living with their step-sister and Liddon has disappeared.
I can't find a birth, marriage or death for a Liddon Bownes nor is she on any other census record.
I thought that her name was probably LILLY but would be grateful if someone could look on the original census and decipher her name?
(It's Liddon on Ancestry and FindMyPast).

Thanks
Beverley
