Can anyone find Emily Beese in the 1901 Census, in the 1891 she is living with her husband Samuel, children Bertie, Samul, Frederick Alice and ? in Plumstead under "Beere".
In 1911 she is a widow , as a servant in Weston Super Mare
I know samuel died 1906 in a hospital in London but his probate was granted to a Laura Baldry-spinster of Benares Rd plumstead. ???

Mm! I have sent for Samuels (Emilys husband) death cert in 1906 and it shows E bees widow of deceased , but there is a note saying " E Beese widow of deceased reads Laura Baldry otherwise E Beese causing the body to be buried" corrected by me J E Brown registrar on production of statement of declaration made by Laura Baldry and William Gilson(? not sure of spelling" Holland
Can anyone throw some light on what this means.
Samuels probate was granted to Laura Baldry - she is noted as a spinster

Do you have any of the children's birth certs for her maiden name? I would guess that she and Samuel were never married.

maybe Laura Baldry and Emily Beese were one and the same woman

I have the marriage cert of Emily Mitchell and Samuel Beese, but I was wondering where Laura Baldry came in .
1901 census shows Samuel with a Laura Beese shown as wife and with some of Samuels and Emilys children, he died in 1906 in London and probate was granted to Laura Baldry-spinster.
I can find Emily in Weston Super Mare in 1911 and know she was buried in Axbridge, but there seems to be part of the puzzle missing/
Why would the registrar make a note about a statement from Laura and a William Gibson- not sure if it is Gilson - Holland
Ayn ideas would be welcome

Sandra - you really should have continued with your first Beese posting - not a good idea t have more than one on the same family - that's the advice from GR - research likely to be repeated for you
in fact you don't appear to have returned to your first Beese posting

Perhaps Laura Baldry had lived with Samuel and was known as Emily Beese and gave this name when she went to register the death but also mentioned that her real name was Laura Baldry and William Gilson was there to back up her story.

I've now found a 2nd marriage for Emily to Robert James Whitchurch 1st July 1900 in London.
I cant find a divorce, and the cert says both she and Robert are widowed, it is the right Emily as her fathers name is shown.
Can anyone point me where to go from here please, I cant find Emily in the 1901 census, and have since found out her 1st husband Samuel left his estate to a Laura Baldry who I suspect is listed as his wife in 1901.
Who knows what we will find when we start a family tree!!
