Hello All,
After several years of unsuccessfully trying to trace John Joy, I believe that I have finally found him today.

The National Archives had a Merchant Seaman medal card for him containing information on his next of kin (mother) who was claiming his medals in Oct 1922. The top of the medal card said Deceased.

I've searched Ancestry but can find no further records on him.
Findmypast has the following but I do not have a subscription so would be grateful to anyone who may have, who could kindly do a lookup for me.

I'm interested in the "at sea" to find where his death was registered.
Many thanks
Paul

Hello Dea & Maddie,
Many thanks for the information. Every little bit helps. I had hoped that when there was a death at sea it still had to be registered but maybe it was at the next port the ship arrived at.

Hello Polly,
Thanks also for the info. His name had been mistranscribed. I have all the information from the census and his birth cert but it was where he had vanished to that I am tracing.
Once again many thanks to you all.
Bye
Paul

Hello Maddie,
They were the only John Joy's I could find on FMP. His medal card definitely says deceased in 1922 so it looks like the J Joy 1060156 is not him looking at the date.
Thanks
Paul
