Will delete now I know it has been proved Isaac wasn't the son of Noah Simpson.

My apologies.
I stand corrected.
Isaac was definitely NOT the son of Noah Simpson and Grace ( Mansfield) from the 1881 return in Stockton on Tees
That particilar family emigrated to the US ( Liverpool-Philadelphia) arriving 17 Mar 1887 aboard the British Prince.
Their son called Isaac was on board the ship and he is also found on the 1900 family census in Ohio. aged 24yrs.
This Isaac died in Ohio in 1901

Stephen,
I am with Vera on this one.
The 1901 census says his place of birth was Dog Town, Durham.
Was there such a place?
Although it is clearly written on the census , could this be an enumerators error.?
Perhaps Stockton, which is exactly what both Vera and Shirlry have found
