Hi Ann, sorry to trouble you further b ut do you have any suggestions please on how to find out more information about canal boatpeople, ie if there is a register for canal workers in 1840's, I am also trying to find out about when James died - possibly on canal. It was clearly between 1841 and 1851 census. I dont know where to go from here. Thanks Ann, Regards Rita

Hi Ann, thank you for your replies. Your first message is my ancester, baptised 14.02.1830 unfortunately the other two are not connected. The reference you quote - please excuse my ignorance but would that be a familysearch.org record. If so do I have to go to the mormon research centre to look at it.

Can anyone give me some information please as to where I can find records of canal boatpeople. My ancester James Lloyd, wife Harriet, son James Lloyd b 1830 worcester and daughter Mary Ann born 1829 worcester were living on boat (canal side of greggory's Mill lock- droitwich st martins on 1841 census. Believe James snr died between 1841 & 1851in the area b ecause his widow and two children, Mary and James were living in the Rainbow Hill area, claines in 1851. James junior is a boatman before moving on to join railway in kent in 1861. Is there a register of boatpeople? that I could search for more information on this family. I don't know whether he owned his boat or worked for someone else. Thank you. Rita
