Thank You for looking..

I am looking for some advice or help on my husbands uncle, he died in 1942 in the Middle East whilst serving there...
We need to purchase his death certificate.. to have his name put on a headstone..
Can anyone please tell me how to go about this..

Regards Elouise :-)

have you found his death on the CWGC site, this should tell you his death date.

Are you saying he died whilst serving in the Armed forces in which case he will already have a headstone or named on a memorial panel, or am i reading it wrong.

Thanks for the reply George

We have his exact date of death and yes as you say he is named on a memorial already..
But the mother in law would like to have his name put on their parents headstone and has been told that she needs to get his death certificate.
Do you think if i downloaded the details from the CWGC that this would be enough for the stone mason to go ahead with?

Regards Elouise :-)

Elouise

Im not really sure, but i cant see why not. Personnally i would as you say download the info from the CWGC site and see what they say.

I know i put my Dads details on my Mothers grave when he died, he was cremated, albeit he did not die during the war. This was on a family grave on my motheres side which also had her parents and brother buried there.

I cant recall having to provide a death certificate, perhaps things have changed.

George

Edit he should have a death cert. located GRO ref can be found on Find My Past site if you post his name im sure it can be found
