The boards are like a graveyard compared with past times.

I rejoined earlier this year, after a gap of around 5-6 years, and could hardly believe it was the same site.

Yep !!

Very little 'buzzing' about nowadays I am afraid!

Shame really 'coz I really miss how it used to be :-( :-( :-(

Very quiet these days - not even busy when they did "Who Do You Think You Are" exhibition. I thought they would have been very busy that weekend.

I suspect people join up, put their tree on then lose interest when they get little or no response when they contact others with the same person in their tree.

In saying all that, it is good when you post seeking help as you get the undivided attention of the helpers. I was very grateful recently for the help given with an ancestor who emigrated first to Canada then USA. The response was swift and a terrific help. So thanks again to all the helpers on here.

On the plus side I am actually doing some work on my own tree rather than helping other members.

Perhaps when all the problems are sorted on this site then members will be back and asking for help again

Very much quieter now than when you were last on PollyPoppet :-(

I'm not sure whether it is a general dip in interest or just here.

Ancestry and FMP have done a lot of advertising for going 'back' in your tree, whereas GR seems to have just slipped it into the ad breaks for their sponsored 'Long Lost Family'...and people watching that are perhaps prompted to join only to look for living relatives?

I get the impression that other sites offer more than this one does so people go elsewhere when their subs are due. I've been thinking about it for some time now as there are most definitely limitations on GR.

But for the help and advice there is nowhere better and that is what has kept here until now.

It has been seriously quiet for a few months but much worse just lately it seems to me. We have had some unpleasantness and at least one person who had just renewed said they were so bothered by it all they were going to ask for their subs back.

Like GlitterBaby, I'm doing more of my own tree again these days.

Welcome back anyway.

Even the General Chat board is dead in comparison to how things used to be

Think moribund best describes it.
It is such a shame because there are some really knowledgeable people on here.
It´s the first place I come when I´m stuck.

I tend to be up half the night and you are lucky if you see one new post on Find ancestors between 1am and 5am

Not worth renewing if all you use the site for is to help others
