I recently found out my g-grandfather Joseph Rosenberg (1893-1958) was born in Swansea; my research showed he had two sisters, Bertha Fanny (1898) and Sarah Beatrice (1895). Today I found his WW1 enlistement document where he lists his next of kin as Beatrice Rosenberg (his sister). I'd love to know what happened to these 2 girls - both parents were dead by 1902. It appears that Sarah (aka Beatrice) must have been sent to live in London (1911 census, listed as cousin staying with Cohn family in Bethnal Green) but by 1914 she was living in Swansea. My g grandfather was living in Birmingham in 1911, training to be an engraver. |
