I cannot confirm either couple you have mentioned as I have no information on the couple really apart from the census I have come across as I have moved up the generations. I do think John and Maria are the right couple though as that is what is showing on the census. I have some information on some children and their descendants but the females of the family are proving more hard to find. I am also baffled as to who the John and Mary are now, maybe they are connected in some way, who knows!!

yes Patchem thats the same census I have found on here, unfortunately for me I can not find the birth mother of the children to match them up as I only have a subscription for here (can't afford them all lol)

Are there any children showing, that you could obtain the birth certificates to confirm mother's maiden name?

I am now looking for ancestors, siblings and descendants for John Hickling 1793 Leicester and was Married to a lady called Maria, of whose surname i do not know. I know they were in Melton Mowbrey in 1841, according to census.
