Trying to find descendents of William Miller b1876

I am trying to find any descendents of William Miller who was born in 1876 at Bridgeton, Glasgow. He was the son of Janet and Hugh Miller.

William married Sarah Thomson in 1899 at Bridgeton and had at least 2 daughters, Elizabeth born 1901 and Margaret born 1909.

Following the death of Hugh Miller, Janet became the 3rd wife of my Great Grand Father, Edward Hector MacKay. They married in 1914 at Stranraer and returned to Edward Hector's house in Greenwich, London to live.

They both died within about 3 weeks of one another in 1923. Edward Hector's Will named Janet as his beneficiary. Both went to Probate which records that William Miller was the sole beneficiary in both cases. He was described as a Belt Maker living at 269 Dalmarnock Road, Glasgow. Evidence of this has been found on the 1901 and 1911 Census Records.

As his personal effects went to William Miller, I am hoping to be able to contact any descendent in the hope that anything has survived. It is a mystery as to why all of his effects went to William, as his children from his 1st marriage were alive, and in fact my Grand-father's family were living close by in Greenwich.

If any one has knowledge of the family I would love to hear from them.

Hi Neil, welcome to the Genes community!
First thing you need to do is see if anyone has this family in their tree. To do so, put the details into 'search trees' above. If you find any matches you can send a message to the tree owner.

Thanks Jan, already tried the obvious, clutching at straws now.

I have checked Ancestry and nobody there has this family as far as I can tell so far.

Who died first, Edward or Janet? If he did, then Janet's heir would be her closest relative, her son William (have I got that right!!).

Edward Hector died 3 weeks prior to Janet. His Will was written some time earlier and named Janet as sole heir. Presumably as they died so close to one another, it went to Probate.

I have a copy of the Probate Register recording them on the same page. I can only assume that William was her closest living relative and therefore got the lot.

I am not sure it matters how closely they died, just who died first. Janet would have inherited from Edward. I imagine Janet had no will, hence probate, and William's entitlement.
Doesn't get you any closer to finding family though!

There lies my problem.
