There was also a christening for a Rowell child in 1830, it's listed on the disc for St Giles but there is a gap when the church was closed for repairs and they were being done at other churches in the parish, unfortunately have had no luck finding that one but would assume that it's for Elizabeth

Thanks to your information i have been able to discover that besides the wonderful information provided above here that:
*Thomas had a brother George Augustus b 1804 d 1892 and a Sister Sarah b 1797 in Oxford. George's wife was a Maria (maiden name?) and he had two chldren Elizabeth b 1831 and George Joseph b1844
*Philip's grandfather was a George Rowell born in Tynemouth, Northumberland in 1775 who died in Oxford in 1832

The 1851 census has Thomas Rowell age 49 watchmaker b Oxford, Oxfordshire with wife Sarah age 58 b Lechlade, Gloucestershire living at 25 Market St Brighton. The LDS site does not have a bap for Philip but two siblings - Lucy Elizabeth b1824 & Sarah Mary b1832. Marriage Oxford 29 April 1823 St Giles Oxford Thomas Rowell & Sarah Iles. Sadly no bap for Thomas but Sarah Iles bap 28 April 1793 Lechlade.

I have not managed to find father and/or son in 1841, so marriage certificate would help for more information.

I am seeking information on the family of Philip George Rowell, a watchmaker in Brighton, Sussex, born in 1826 and married to Harriet Smith. I cannot find any names of his parents. I have traced much of the family (including children and grandchildren to my father's generation) through census records etc but cannot get earlier than his birth.
