WW2 service records don't give details of what a man would have been involved in. Regarding his actual service they mainly give you dates, regiments and battalions served with and countries served in. When you have this information though, you can find out more from War Diaries for the relevant battalions at the National Archives. If RAF, Squadron Operations Books which give a day by day account of what they were involved in and where, are available on the documentsonline website but there is a charge. |
