Oh right. Think he must have filled it in then. That means is age on it must be right .

The 1911 census is all filled in with the same handwriting i.e. the same person has written it. If John had not filled it in but someone else had done it for him that person should have signed and put that he had done so on the behalf of the householder.

Thats interesting 20 Chapel Street a lodging house. Mum said he came from County Cork, wounder if they went back to Ireland when he was born and he came back over here when he was older.

That is the right cencus form.
Not sure if he filled it in himself but it corresponds with the Marriage cert.
Found the Burial and Florence Tierney bought the plot in 1941 and John Tierney the first entry but at age 68.

it looks like 20 Chapel Street was a lodging house in 1911 so that doesn't help

As John filled in the Census Return himself and his age corresponds with the age on his marriage certificate you have to assume he is correct and that the age on death is not

There is another John Tierney on 1911 census, born 1873 Preston - so we need to be careful here!!
As PP says, what is his father's name and occupation?

Use the search tree's facility to see if anyone has him in their tree,

Was he with family on the 1911census have you tried name variants and spellings to find him on earlier census's

Age on deaths can often be out depending on who the informant was and their knowledge of the deceased

His fathers name should be on the marriage cert that should help to find and confirm his birth also them together on the 1881/91 and possibly the 1901 census

Births Jun 1873

Tierney John Preston 8e 524

Births Sep 1879

Tierney John Liverpool 8b 182

Hi
Is there anyone with a John Tierney in there Family Tree.
Born 1873-1879 died 1941.
Married Florence E Rose on 22nd of may 1909 in Oldham.
On the Marriage cert he says is age is 30 but died in 1941 when he was 68 this is were 1873-1879 for is birth comes in, not sure of exact date.
Can pin him down on the 1911 cencus living in Oldham but nothing before that except he says he was born in Preston Lancs.
Family say he came from County Cork but not sure of this either.

Been on another board and got a lot of info saying he may have come from around Liverpool but not sure if i have the right one.

Thanks for your help.
