Only the people that were present in the house, on the night of the census were recorded

I have the same problem with my ggg-grandfather Thomas Lashford...a boatman whio I only find once in 1841. Seems they had different rules!

Thankyou for all your replies sorry I went out to have my first lot of accupunncture treatment so if Christopher was on his coal barge on the night of the 1881 census would he not have been recorded

Having trouble finding them 1871/81.
Can you post the 1871 for them and what you have for 1881 please

This for the moment as a reference for their names

I am looking for Christopher Ball on the 1881 census and am hoping some kind person will help.He was born in 1843 Deerhurst Gloucestershire and married Hester Allen in 1870 Christopher was a hay and coal merchant .I can find Hester in 1881with 4 of her children but could not see Christopher .Thankyou in advance for any help you can give
