I can not find the death of my 2x Gt Grandfather - John Ellcock could be spelt Elcock/Ellcox. He appears 1881 census with wife Emma and family in Birmingham. She is back in Leicester living with her mother on 1891 census - as a widow. Emma is back in Birmingham on both 1901 and 1911 census - she has not remarried. I have her death certificate for 1924 - she is recorded as widow of John Ellcox. I can not find him on any census after 1881. He was born in Birmingham in 1839. Any ideas?
Thank you in advance
Glenys

1891 census shows a John Ellcock, born 1840, Birmingham, living in London
could this be him?

Thank you. Both are possibilities.
The death could be him - I shall have to investigate.
The census record for Chelsea/London has also been a possible - his trade was a Polisher.
Thank you again.

For what it's worth, I think both are him - certainly the 1891 London one, too much matches to be anyone else.
