I would be so grateful if someone could look up an Australian marriage for Wallace Lewis Benjamin, born 1926in Swansea and married in Oz about 1948. He returned to England 1949 with his wife but unsure if she stayed in the UK.
Thanks
Trudy

What State did they live in, and what was his wife's name?

Trudy Report 25 Jun 2012 22:38

Oops, Apologies but my post should read Wallace Alexander Benjamin

Hi Bev, I am doing this research for my sister in law who has very limited knowledge but we think he may have lived in Adelaide although he left Sidney in 1949 to return to UK and his wife aged 20 years was listed as Mrs E Benjamin.
Thanks for your time

You're welcome.
Sorry, Enid Duncan's birth is too recent to be on the NSW BMD online index.

There is a Wallace A Benjamin listed on 192 but you need to buy credits to view the full details

There is also a marriage in Southport for an Alexander Benjamin in the 1950s

This looks likely.
Based on age at death, this Enid was born circa 1930 .
If she was the wife in question, she married at circa 19yrs old

Ryerson index:
Benjamin, Enid. age 78. Death 16 Apr 2008
Publication: Daily Telegraph (Sydney) 18 Apr 2008

Gosh, how wonderful you all are, I. really appreciate your help. I have Ancestry but not Worldwide so the Oz details are invaluable. We know what happened to Wallace Benjamin from 1954 onwards but it was his marriage that we needed to check and what may have happened to the wife Enid. Her return to Oz in 1951 and her death in 2008 seems more than likely.
I only started looking into this last night and my sister in law is amazed at what details have already come to light especially finding she had Welsh, Irish and Greek ancestors.
Thank you all again, I've had my 2 year old grand daughter all day so only just turned on laptop
