Thankyou Gins so you think Ernest had children by his cousin then married someone else who had lived with thr family who was quite a bit younger and this was in late victorian early edwardian times,society has not changed much

It looks like Albert Ernest Cowie had children with his cousin Harriett Alma Cowie

She is down as the mother on the baptism and no father is listed. I dont thnk they married but Albert (on the 1911) listed himself as married to 'save face'

Thankyou Gins and Mel for all that information sorry for late reply as left computer as I can only concentrate on it for a short while. I noticed from the earlier census that Anne Caffry was living with Charles Cowie so there must be some connection there. I wonder why Charles called himself Joseph as he did on some earlier census's very interesting so thankyou very much.Edit I have just noticed that in 1911 census Albert states that he is marrie so there must have been an earlier marriage and she died but thankyou again for your help

Thankyou Mel and Gins I had looked on free bmd and found some of those birth registrations can you tell me where you found the baptism records as I have abirthregistration for a Julia Cowie in Lambeth Surrey in Sep 1/4 1881 and was wondering if there was any connection Thankyou for your help as I can not look at computer long as have recently had brain surgery and have double vision but it is nice to have something to take my mind of things
.I have another qury on the 1911 census theris a Albert Ernest Cowie but he is not on earlier census and he is not in baptisms you have kindly found for me so is he a son
