I think this 1881 census confirms the 1884 marriage I posted above. The 1911 census shows mother Elizabeth as Collingbourne, Wilts.
SHOUT, Harry C Head Married M 46 1835 Retired Hampstead, Middlesex SHOUT, Ann Wife Married F 48 1833 ?ley, Oxfordshire WATERS, Elizabeth Servant Single F 21 1860 Genl Servant Allingbourne ?, Wiltshire **
Piece: 213 Folio: 6 Page: 5 Registration District: Pancras Civil Parish: St Pancras
Address: 22, Willes Rd, St Pancras County: London, Middlesex
** The original image definitely looks like her birthplace was Collingbourne.

A possible for Henry and Elizabeth's marriage:
London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921 Name: Henry Thomas Smith, bachelor - a labourer Age: 25 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1859 Spouse Name: Elizabeth Waters, spinster Spouse Age: 25 Record Type: Marriage Event Date: 14 Sep 1884 Parish: Haverstock Hill St Andrew Borough: Camden Father Name: Thomas Robert Smith - cordwainer Spouse Father Name: James Walters - labourer (think name should be Waters) Register Type: Parish Register
Address for both: 16 Preston Street.
Witnesses: Henry Samuel Prior & Ellen Jane Luck
Gary really needs to get one of the children's birth certs to confirm Elizabeth's maiden name.
On George's baptism the address was 6 Haverstock Place which made me think this may be on the right track. The baptism original confirms his actual birth date as 14 August 1893

A copy of their marriage certificate should give you their father's names and occupations - vital with a name like Smith if you're going to try to work back through the census. will also give you their ages at marriage.
Surname First name(s) Spouse District Vol Page Marriages Jun 1914 GOAD Grace Smith Camberwell 1d 1470 GOOD Grace Smith Camberwell 1d 1470 Smith George Goad Camberwell 1d 1470
(Obviously confusion over Grace's surname).
EDIT: Marriage details posted below.

Hello Gary, welcome to the boards.
You can search for war dead on the CWGC website http://www.cwgc.org
There were 186 British servicemen called George Smith killed in 1916 alone.
Where was the family from?
