Find Ancestors

As they were born before 1837 you will not find birth certificates for them...but maybe a baptism record if lucky

Ok so I finally got the marriage certificate in the mail today and it looks like Thomas' father is John Sykes and Harriet's father is William Richards. The certificate didn't provide much information (like birthdates or place born) beyond that. So thanks again everyone for your help I guess now I need to find birth certificates with matching fathers :-)

SUDDEN DEATH AT BOWDEN.
On Friday information was received at the City Watchhouse that John Henry Sykes, aged forty-two years, a sole-leather finisher, of Gilbert-street, Bowden, had died suddenly.
The wife of the deceased stated that her husband had suffered lately from shortness of breath. Soon after he went to bed on Thursday night she heard him trying to cough, and he called out ' I am dying.'' Dr. Evans was sent for, and on arrival pronounced life to be extinct. Dr. Whittell has decided not to hold an inquest, as he considers that the symptoms indicate heart disease.

Thomas died in Hindmarsh, South Australia in 1886.
Harriet died in Port Adelaide, South Australia in 1885.

Their death certs will tell you more, although if you are getting their marriage cert, that may be enough.

I'm looking for information about Thomas Sykes (born about 1833 in Derby) who married Harriet Richards (born about 1827) in 1852. They immigrated to Australia on the Medina in 1852. I am in the process of getting a copy of their marriage certificate but was wondering if anyone has any other information like who their parents or siblings were.
