Are you sure that the Thomas Chapple who went to NZ in 1855 is the son of Thomas and Ann? There is only one Thomas Chapple birth registered in the right area in 1852: |

The Thomas in the 1861 seems to have married Ellen Wagstaff in 1874 in Hackney - father given as Thomas Chapple, Paymaster in RA; an Ann Chapple was one of the witnesses. If your Thomas stayed in NZ, it doesn't look as if he was the one baptised in Woolwich in 1852. |

There were no penalties for not registering the births before 1875 these are the only ones around that date |

On thomas death certificate here in NZ it states his father as Thomas Chapple and just Chapple as his mother. At the time of his death in 1925 he was 73yrs of age and had been in New Zealand 70 yrs |
