Still struggling to find where John Bartlett was born and who his parents were. Annoyingly, the 1841 doesn't given his place of birth and he had died by 1851 so no help there either. Haven't been able to find a marriage for him and Mary either. Any suggestions?

The address on that 41 census is Norfolk St. which is the same address as this baptism for Susannah. However I think the occupation for John on that 41 census definitely says painter.

Ok, Just confirmed that the 1841 census I just listed is the family. They were living on Norfolk Stree and the baptism record for Susannah and Henry listed Norfold Street as their abode so now I have birth years for John and Mary both 1781 and an extra child Charles born 1831. So the occupation must have said Printer and not Painter. Now to finding a marriage for them and their births!

oops - spelling mistake! I meant lived in London.

Just found this 1841 census record:

Name:John Bartlett
Age:60
Estimated Birth Year:abt 1781
Gender:Male
Where born:middlesex, England
Civil parish:St Marylebone
Hundred:Ossulstone (Holborn Division)
County/Island:Middlesex
Country:England
Registration district:St Marylebone
Piece:675
Book:7
Folio:23
Page Number:39

Other Members:
Mary Bartlett
James Bartlett
Charles Bartlett

Now this is a possibility as it would cover James too - didn't know there was a Charles but that doesn't rule it out. The occupation listed for John looks like Painter but it could be Printer - if it were Printer then I'd say it was him.

You say he "loved" in London! Hence the 4 children. But did he also live there?

I haven't been able to find John and Susanna on 1841 census returns although they were alive - I have found them both on 1851; James with his wife and Susanna (listed as Susan) in service. As for George and Henry, I don't have any further information on them so they may well have died.

Sounds like James and Susannah were ....

Just because James' marriage certificate doesn't say John was deceased doesn't necessarily mean that he was still alive - it all depends if the question was asked.

Were all the children still alive in 1841 and 1851?
Thanks

I am looking for a John Bartlett. He was an Engraver and Copper Plate Printer who loved in London. So far I have not found him on any census returns. I don't know when or where he was born unfortunately. He married a lady called Mary but I don't know when, where or what her surname was. What I do know, is that they had four children: George Bartlett 1815 Cambden/Holborn, London; James Bartlett 1820 St Marylebone, London; Susanna Bartlett 1821 Cambden, London and Henry Bartlett 1828 Holborn, London. I have found baptisms for the children except James Bartlett. According to James' marriage certificate, his father was alive at the time which was 1845 and according to Susanna's marriage certificate, her father was deceased which was 1855. Trying to locate a death, a marriage, a birth and 1841/1851 census for John and his wife Mary. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
