May just try to find a match on the 1871 census. but barker is such a common name around that area , as is sarah of course.

Update for Shirley on the 1881 marriage

Sarah gave her address as Back Brook St Todmorden - which I think means Back of Brook St.

I did try looking last night for Barker at that address and did not find any.

Thanks for that. Wonder if that means it will be still no father if i get the certificate. That puts pay to that then. Still no wiser as to sarahs barker family. May still get certificate as there may be an address which might give me a clue, as also witnesses.

Searching for details of john pickles who maybe married mally crabtree or mally sutcliffe in todmorden/halifax in around 1865 . John born 1841/42 in stansfield todmorden to abraham pickles and mary nee dean. abraham was a grocer. i have found john living with wife mally/molly aged 45 in 1881 i stansfield. And they have a daughter mary born 1870 approx.
If it helps, johns brothers include charles, young and abraham and alfred. Charles married rebecca, young married sarah barker in 1881 . Not certain which mally john married.
Can anyone out there help??
