Also thinking that the John who died in 1868 aged 24 would have been too young to be marrying Maria in 1859 (unless you are saying he is a different one altogether?) |

Hmm interesting I will look into this...my theory on young Alfred was that Maria had him after Chas' death but used her husband's name to legitimise the birth. |

Hi thanks for your work here so far...have most of Maria's bits (except her death). Still a mystery as yes I think that Maria was the wife of Hopton who was in NSW in 1880s. |
