I see you have now amended your opening post to say Road instead of Street...it would have been nicer just to say sorry that you had made a mistake

Janet

Janet Report 14 May 2012 15:38

Queensland ROAD is listed as under Islington in 1911

Henrys daughters marriage certificate has him as deceased in 1913, if this is correct he died between 1911 and 1913, but he is on the Leavesdon Workhouse document as a visitor it says
Hy Turner 1863 labourer 12 Queensland Road
Ada F 1872 8 Little Randolph Street the date looks like 10.11.1919?

its so confusing :-S

Janet

Janet Report 13 May 2012 18:42

Hi Janet

I think he would have attacked them after 1911 my grandad Walter was born in 1898 and he said he was a young boy and had to climb out of the window to get help. But it could have been before?

You havent got the generations mixed up ;-)

I think they were in the workhouse in 1901 as just found a Ernest Turner born sept 6th 1901 with parents Ada Florence and Henry Turner :-(

my grandad would have been almost 3yr dont know where he was?

The name Rose runs through all the generations just to complicate things more.

I know by the time my grandad marries Henrys wife is living at 8 little randolph street with a different man bringing up 17 children!

Its sending me barmy trying to tie up the loose ends ;-)

Hope some of this helps with your dead ends. I have a few dead ends of my own and they are driving me daft - well, dafter than usual :-D

Janet Report 13 May 2012 16:49

Is there any chance that during the 1891 and 1901 census they could have been living with somebody else or worse still all in the poorhouse if Henry was in the asylum. If he was released he may have gathered his family together again and they then appear in 1911. As you know the names of the poorhouse and the asylum, would they have any records of them being there?

Is the Rose in the 1911 census his sister or has he named his daughter after her?

Janet

Janet Report 13 May 2012 16:35

In Family Search there is a Rose A Turner just born in the 1861 census in Pancras, London. Is this the right family?

Janet

Janet Report 13 May 2012 16:31

Can I just clarify a point please? If your great grandfather attacked his young family and was taken to the asylum, I presume he was released again if you found him back with his family in 1911.

Your grandfather then marries in 1919 believing him to be dead but he isn't as he visits his daughter after the wedding. This means he must have died after 1920 - or am I getting the generations mixed up? :-S

I tried Family Search again but the only Henry Turner born in 1863 I could come up with has Samuel in his name and died in Battersea in 1911. Wrong again. Sorry.

Janet Report 13 May 2012 15:50

From the last entry, obviously the wrong Henry Turner :-(

Janet

Janet Report 13 May 2012 15:47

There's another Henry Turner born 1879, burial 18/5/1928 Parish of St. Pancras; Residence (I presume at time) Westhampton Street. Did some guesswork as to the age he might still be living with his sister and used the possible birth date to find this one. Might be wrong but St Pancras is interesting.

kidsnpets Report 13 May 2012 15:42

Yes he was eligible to vote, he was born in st pancras in 1866

I have him with his family in the 1911 census living at 32 Tovey Place, St Pancras.
His son has his father down as deceased when he marries in 1919,

but there is a later document where Henry (sometimes known as Harry) is a visitor to his daughter in Leavesdon Poor House,
after the date of his sons wedding.
He apparently went mad and tried to attack his family with a cutlass when his children were young and was taken to barnet asylum.

So not sure if his children were then told he was dead when he wasnt?

So need to find out what happened to him between the 1911 census and 1919 when he appears on a visitors document.

Sadly Henry was his only forename.

I have Ancestry but cant seem to search by a address?

Janet Report 13 May 2012 15:39

Neither Henry nor Rose is appearing on either the 1901 or 1911 census and Queensland Street is coming up as being in Lancashire. ??
