patchem Report 7 May 2012 10:07

If her mother had been married before the marriage will not be in her maiden name.
Have you got the birth certificate for first names?

Janette

Janette Report 7 May 2012 10:08

No only on Sarahs birth on free bmd says mother ward.

patchem

patchem Report 7 May 2012 10:14

As there is no obvious marriage on free bmd, have you any further information about the family?
She does not appear to have any siblings.

Is this her marriage?

patchem Report 7 May 2012 10:20

I think you are going to have to get the birth and marriage certificates if you want to go further back. No extra family knowledge?
Did she die in 1939?

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 7 May 2012 10:21

You need Sarah's birth cert, which will cost £9.25 if ordered on line from the GRO

Janette

Janette Report 7 May 2012 10:22

I dont have a death for her,all i know is that Arthur was my grand fathers brother, and my mum said that he married sarah but they didnt see much of the family.

patchem

patchem Report 7 May 2012 10:34

I can see two daughters for her marriage, then that possible death.
It now depends how much you want to find her parents as to whether you buy the certificates, or stop searching that part of your family.
You have Madge in your tree, are you in contact with her to find out more information?

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 7 May 2012 10:38

Yorksbmd is no use for this - nor are the West Yorks baptisms on Ancestry.

patchem

patchem Report 7 May 2012 10:41

Sorry, Reggie, I found some more - Fred(slightly old) and Henry(rather young) And I had not looked at mis-spellings and people moving after 1911.

Janet

Janet Report 7 May 2012 10:50

There are several Newetts on the 1911 living at Ecclesall Bierlow-jl

Janette

Janette Report 7 May 2012 11:14

Hi i have Madge and a pat as daughters of Sarah and Arthur, but i dont no if they are still alive or were they are living mum says when the familys married they drifted apart thanks

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 7 May 2012 11:32

If you haven't had contact with Sarah's daughters, you are contravening site guidelines by including them in your GR tree. You must have permission to include living people in your tree on here

If you wish to pursue this quest with any degree of accuracy, you are going to to have to fork out for a cert

Christine

Christine Report 7 May 2012 14:05

Ref: Robert Newett that Reggie found.

Marriages Dec 1902
Calton Lily Sheffield 9c 1047
Harrison Albert Sheffield 9c 1047
LIEVESLEY Mary Elizabeth Sheffield 9c 1047
Newett Robert Sheffield 9c 1047

Then found a possible marriage for a Mary Elizabeth WARD to a Lievesley:

Marriages Jun 1896
France Florence Sheffield 9c 832
HATCHER Charles Sheffield 9c 832
LIEVESLEY Tom Sheffield 9c 832
Ward Mary Elizabeth Sheffield 9c 832

(Is anyone able to check this out please?)

Janette

Janette Report 7 May 2012 17:07

Hi Thanks for your help.
Christine,do you think that Mary Elizabeth Ward married Tom Lievesley in 1896 and then married Robert Newett in 1902 ?

patchem

patchem Report 7 May 2012 19:04

That is what Christine is proposing.

So a death for Tom Lievesley is needed between 1896 and 1902, and a census entry in 1901 for Mary E Lievesley. Both around Sheffield.

However Reggie's Robert Newett in 1911 has been married 12 years, whilst the marriage found was in 1902.
However, no marriage for Robert in 1898/1899 showing.

Also in 1902 Robert could have married Lily, and in 1896 Tom could have married Florence.

So a lot of checking is needed to explore all these possibilities.
And I cannot even find any married Newett for a wife for Robert in 1911 around Sheffield (or,in fact, anywhere in the country, so she must be hiding under another name).

patchem

patchem Report 7 May 2012 19:18

This could be the 1911 Robert, sorry, still having problems with ancestry, so cannot read image.
