Why don't you have another go now the search criteria has changes on here. I was struggling to find my grandmother on the 1911 census, but as soon as was able to put in Surname with different spellings it found her straight away. She was listed but with a spelling mistake in her surname, which is why I couldn't find her the first time round.

is it possible his mum married after his birth and he would be under her new surname?

As Vera has said your best bet first is to get his birth cert for his parental info

Have you got his marriage certificate......if so would give you his fathers name and occupation? Also getting his birth certificate would help?

Thats Was I keep saying but the family are sure he wasn't and that his mother married into wickens, I believe theres some story telling involved, just wish i could find him in the census

Completely lost my head this morning he is Sydney Frank Wickens.

His can anyone help locate Frank in the 1911 census, Im stuck. i know his death was 1994 Retford Notts and his Birth to be 1908 Eton Buckinghamshire. He married in Chesterfield in 1927 to a Maud Fryer. (there is confusion in the family whether he was actually born a wickens.
