Yes, that is the right Thomas Melling (c1840) who married Hannah Bamber in 1860. I have a copy fo this marr. cert. The Thomas Melling who was buried in 1838 I believe to be Thomas' father but can get no proof of this or other ancestors on the Melling side.

Thank you all for helping me with my Thomas Melling (c1839/40). I believe the Thomas Melling who died in 1838 was my Thomas' father and his mother was Nancy Hindle. I am in a right quandary with this family and what I believe so far is:
Henry Melling (possibly fisherman) and Jane Ward of Penwortham, Preston had two sons - Geoe. Ward (c1811) - nat son and Thomas Melling (c1817). Can find nothing else out about Henry and Jane.
Thomas Melling (c1817) marr. maria wooldridge in Preston 26.10.1835, she died 1837 and he remarried as a widower to Nancy Hindle in 1838.
I am now considering the fact that perhaps Mary Hannah Melling (c1869) is not his daughter but was registered to save face. Perhaps he just went off and left his wife. Perhaps someone has a suspicious Thomas Melling Family. His wife Hannah remarried as a widow in 1871 to a James Carter.
Thank you all once again for helping me. Thomas Mellings daughter Alice (c1862) was my gt grandma.

Would anyone know of a Thomas Melling marr. Hannah Bamber 1860 in Preston. Three children, John Bamber, Alice and Mary Hannah. Supposedly died 1869/1871. No record can be found. Also can anyone confirm the ancestry of Thomas. I believe his parents were Thomas (c1819) and Nancy Hindle/Swindlehurst Melling. Thomas died in 1839 about the time his son was born. The parents of Thomas Snr I also believe were Henry Melling and Jane Ward of Penworthan, Preston who also had another son Geoe. Ward (c1811). Any information at all would help.
