Find Ancestors

So I'm looking for info about my relative above, Thomas Fleetwood Wilats.

Easy enough you may say, the name is rare, anyone that that has the "Fleetwood Willats" combination would be all part of the same tree, right?

So the info I have been given has Mary Ann Willats born Circa 1827 in Poplar London and married James Godden born 1821, Poplar.

Mary A Willats father was Fleetwood Willats born Circa 1794 and, I think, Christened at St Annes, Limeshouse on March 8 1795. He married Sarah Ann ????? born Circa 1795.

His Father was Thomas Fleetwood Willats born Circa 1764, he was Christened on 27 December 1764, Limehouse, Middlesex.

Now according to my sources, someone else's tree, his father was also Thomas Fleetwood Willats, born Circa 1742, married Sarah Hall but that is pretty much all we have. What further confuses this is when I google the name "Thomas Fleetwood Willats" it shows up a link with someone, on another Genealogy site, looking for info on a Thomas Fleetwood Willats born in 1749 in Caversham Oxford.

Normally I wouldn't be so fussed but what are the odds? My TFW born in 1742 was the won of Thomas Willats, no Fleetwood. The addition of Fleetwood assumes that Thomas Willats married into a family whose surname is Fleetwood. Possibly a family of wealth wanting to carry on the name.

I have a bit more info, loads more I want to say, I have contacted the other person with the TFW born in 1749 but to no avail but to much info can be a bad thing and I don' want anyone to get bored!

I'm putting it up here in the hope that one or two others may be able to shed some light on it. TFW appears on others trees on this site, I have contacted them all and awaiting a reply.

The second one I'm not totally sure about. I need to find out more from other sources before I confirm that as one of mine.

Sarah Rolt born 1765, married Thomas Fleetwood Willats in 1764, that was his second marriage, I think?!

As for the other ones I need to see where they fit, many thanks for supplying the info.

One of the links I have gives details that some Fleetwood Willats living in Caversham moved to London after bankruptcy. Being of Royal Descent they were not sent to prison. I still need to find details of a possible link between my Fleetwood Willats and the Caversham lot, the only way I know about them is through Google, not my own tree.

Descendants of Oliver Cromwell married into the Fleetwood family. While it would make my day to be related to such a prominent historical figure I'm not letting my imagination run away with it's self. I either want t prove it or rule it out as quickly as possible.

One tree on ancestry has Thomas Willats marrying in 1837 at the age of 72 years but we know thats wrong.

Sorry, what I meant was that I got it wrong, Sarah Rolt married in 1816, not 1764.

I have an account on Ancestry but I'll need to wait to pay day to renew.
