Can anyone help me with this, .. Caroline married Bill Fletcher and lived in Levenshulme Manchester this is back in around 1917 there they gave birth to Irene.. they lived at number 20 Park Grove Levenshulme. Irene was born 20th April 1917.. father william Nelson Fletcher and mother caroline fletcher formerly woodall.
Why im struggling is.. 1936 my mother Maureen was born to Irene Fletcher. My mother was raised by Caroline Fletcher who was then by this time with Ernest Harrison, i believe they got married.. so.. what happened to William Fletcher. and indeed what happened to my nan Irene Fletcher. All i was told was that Irene was sent away to have my mother in a work house in Haywood or heywood.. caroline and ernest took the baby from her, and Ernest wouldnt allow her to go back and wouldnt allow Caroline to see her own daughter.. why I need to know is.. My auntie whos mother was Carolines sister..knew what happened.. my dad knew what had happened... my mother doesnt know.. and me and my sister dont know.. but I have always been told to leave it alone. and what i dont know wont hurt me.. My father once contacted the Salvation Army as he wished to know, they told him and it was suggested by doctors my mother should not know.. so what is the family secret... at age 50 i do need to know.. so.. after many many many years of searching im trying again.. My gran or great gran caroline fletcher/harrison died in the 1970,s residing sale manchester.. if anyone knows anything please help ... Lorraine Fletcher
